History:

The early incarnation of PAFilms formed in a diner over coffee and blueberry muffins during the early summer of 2007. W. Jeff Crawford of Transdimensional Films met with Cliff Ackman of Central PA Scriptwriters, Eric Berry of Hole in the Ground Productions and Jim Norcross of Rising Phoenix Productions, some of the most influential productions groups in South Central Pennsylvania. The group formed the first groups (not including Rising Phoenix) that make up the original charter members of what was being called GUMPP (Groups United for Motion Picture Productions). That name wasn't going to stick, as it wasn't marketable.

It wasn't until after the groups had met with Roger Arnold of Cat in the Sink Productions, Bob Haag of York Little Theatre and Rebecca Lyttle of Buck Productions that they decided on the name "PA Films", mostly in part that the domain was available.

Thus, the charter membership was in place and PA Films dot com was born.

PA Films 2.0:

In the days preceding this current time, PA Films was devised to be a "membership site". The initial thinking behind that was that there was a need for productions to be able to find the people they need in order to make a movie. This would include actors and actresses, crew, and musicians or film composers. Many people filled the ranks of each of these types of positions. At one point, PA Films had documented over 900 people in the database! But that was short-lived.

Through the economic depression, PA Films had withered slightly. Many people were not as interested in making movies as they once were, simply because there was no money, or even more, no real good opportunities. It was at this time that Cliff Ackman and W. Jeff Crawford decided to legitimize PA Films. So, in early 2011, PA Films dot com became PA Films, LLC. While the "dot com" is still the majority of the company, it was never dropped from the trademarked logo. And since the company was now completely legitimate with the state and federal governments, PA Films could do much more, including purchasing production insurance for any and all productions they were to undertake.

PA Films 3.0:

With a new understanding of the company, a bright new vision for the future, and a few new and refreshing ideas, PA Films is moving into a new feel; a change of position. With several successful movies under their belt, PA Films has decided to step away from the role of keeping databases, and is now concentrating on making movies and meeting more and more talent. The information that could once be shared is still available to those people in PA Films, but now it's only for that use, turning the company into a production company, instead of a pseudo-talent agency.

And PA Films is looking forward to a bright new future with several prospects on the horizon. Many great stories, many great people to make them happen. It's now up to you to let other people know about this large production company that is right in your backyard!
